Us.
Alex and I met in November 2004, in what will be when our children have children, and old-fashioned way – online.
Our first date was over shared margaritas and stories of past lives. We talked and talked. In the end, we kissed. Sweet. I know sometimes women will have flashes of the life they plan on living with a man they have only just met, but my life with him did flash before my eyes – and it’s now coming true.
When we met, he was mid-thirties, me, late twenties. Both employed in the legal field. Both native Californians with close family ties and a core group of incredible friends. Cautious sometimes to a fault, my unguarded share-all personality is a great compliment to his. You will find him most often deep in “his music” – either creating beats, remixing beats, downloading music or just enjoying his sounds. You’ll find me most often deep in a stack of books. I love the smell, the sound of turning pages, and read-worthy prose. I am an unabashed book snob. I make no apologies. We find most of the same things funny, but my sarcastic sense of humor is still growing on him! We share a love of classic movies, and revel in the stupidity and predictability of reality shows!
We are a good match in many regards. He is my friend and I love him. I know without doubt, that if I ever need help, he will be there for me, no questions asked. He has been a great co-parent to my son, Colden. His son, Alex has been a great addition to my life as well. Our families get along and our relationship is the stronger for this.
We have been together since July 2005, and it is fitting that we will also be married in July – 2010.
